O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.
– Psalm 139:1-6
The idea that God knows everything about me can be scary. And at times it should be scary. But for the most part, I find it rather comforting.
You see, I often have trouble putting things into words. (So it totally makes sense that I run a blog and write stories, right?) The more important something is to me, the harder it is to feel that I have explained it sufficiently and made people understand why it’s important.
But I don’t have to worry about that with God. If I’m talking to him and can’t figure out how to phrase what I’m trying to say, it’s okay, because he knows what I mean, and he knows why it matters.
It’s extremely freeing.
