I read a lot about people not wanting to accept second chances (from God, people they let down, whoever) because they don’t think they deserve them. (To be perfectly honest, I’m not sure how many of these people have been real and how many have been fictional characters. Sometimes things blend together.) I must admit that this seems strange to me.
Isn’t undeserved kind of the definition of second chances? If you were good enough to deserve a second chance, you wouldn’t need it, because you would not have failed at the first chance.
Anyone offering a second chance is perfectly aware that the offeree does not deserve it. If they weren’t willing to work with that, they wouldn’t be offering.
So nope. You don’t deserve a second chance. But that’s the point, so it’s really no reason to not accept it.
